Our History & Institutional Journey

The Story of KNAOTP

Established in 2025 from a vision to strengthen the professional identity, education, representation and development of Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine practitioners in Kenya, KNAOTP continues to advance a shared commitment to professional excellence and quality healthcare.

Our Beginnings

An Idea That Became a Professional Association

The history of the Kenya National Association for Orthopaedic and Trauma Practitioners (KNAOTP) began in 2025, when the idea of establishing a dedicated professional body for Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine practitioners took shape. The initiative was founded on the recognition that practitioners and trainees in this field need a common platform through which to engage, share knowledge, strengthen professional relationships and contribute to the development of their discipline.

The idea developed into a formal association, and KNAOTP was registered in 2025. Its establishment marked an important step towards creating an organised professional platform for Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine Technicians, Technologists and other relevant practitioners to pursue shared professional interests and participate constructively in the wider healthcare environment.

From its inception, the association has been oriented towards professional advocacy, education, ethical practice, institutional engagement and the continued advancement of orthopaedic and trauma care in Kenya. These priorities provide the foundation for its activities and its long-term contribution to the healthcare workforce.
